Screen Printing

Screen printing is a versatile and popular printing technique where ink is pushed through a finely woven mesh screen onto a substrate, creating bold, vibrant, and incredibly durable designs. By using a stencil to block certain areas of the mesh, ink only passes through the open areas, forming the desired image.

How It Works:

1. Stencil Creation on a Mesh Screen: A fine mesh screen is stretched over a frame. A transparent film positive of the artwork is placed on the screen and exposed to UV light, hardening the emulsion except where the design blocks light.
2. Screen Placement and Ink Application: The prepared screen is carefully positioned over the item to be printed. Ink, specifically formulated for screen printing, is then poured onto one end of the screen, just above the design.
3. Ink Transfer with a Squeegee : A rubber blade, called a squeegee, is used to pull the ink firmly across the screen. The pressure from the squeegee forces the ink through the open areas of the mesh, transferring the ink directly onto the surface of the item beneath.
4. Drying and Curing : The printed item is carefully removed from beneath the screen. To ensure the ink is permanent and durable, it needs to be "cured." This typically involves passing the item through a heat tunnel or UV/LED Dryers.
